PURPOSE: A multiprocessor computer system having multiple coherency regions and software process migration between coherency regions without selectively purging contents of a cache is provided to remove needs for cache control hardware to selectively purging the cache when a software process is migrated between cache coherency regions. CONSTITUTION: The multiprocessor system has multiple dynamic cache coherency regions using multiple processing nodes and the cache associated with the processing nodes, and a cache controller logic. The cache control logic controls software-initiated migration of the software processes among the cache coherency regions without selectively purging cache contents of more than one processing node. |
