1341753 Electric hot plates E G O ELEKTRO-GERATE BLANC U FISCHER 19 April 1971 [17 Feb 1970] 21815/71 Heading A4D [Also in division F4] In an electric cooking appliance a hot plate 13 is mounted in a sheet metal ring 40, a flange 45 of which co-operates with a downwardly directed flange 42 around an opening in a sheet metal top 12, and an outer flange 16 of the top co-operates with a flange 23 of a frame 19<SP>1</SP> which is clamped to a base 22 which may be an article of kitchen furniture. To prevent food material from entering the inside of the appliance a sealing ring 52 Fig.3 of silicone rubber may be included between the flange 45 of the ring 40 and a flange 43 projecting from the flange 42 of the top, and this in conjunction with an air gap between the flanges 45 and 42 insulate the hot plate thermally from the top. The frame may be made from plastics reinforced with glass fibre. The top 12 may be formed with a depression (55), Figs.5, 6, 8, 9, (not shown), around the opening for the hot plate, for collecting spilt liquids. In a method of fitting the hot plate to the top, see Figs. 10 and 11 (not shown), a deformable ring (40<SP>1</SP>) is provided which conforms to the shape of the flange 42 on applying downward pressure to the hot plate. Controls for the hot plate are fitted in a raised portion 29 of the frame. |
