<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which the life of a brush roller can be prolonged. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a brush roller 2 that cleans the surface of a body 1 to be cleaned by rotating in contact with the body 1 in such a manner as to corotate with a difference in the linear speed in the direction opposite to the direction of the rotation of the body 1. In addition to the corotation with the linear speed difference in the direction opposite to the direction of the rotation of the body 1, the brush roller 2 is given a choice between a first mode in which the brush roller 2 stops and a second mode in which the brush roller rotates in the same direction as the body 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
