PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an accurate receiving state by displaying a reception level on the basis of a BER when the bit error rate (BER) can be measured, and otherwise by displaying the reception level on the basis of C/N. SOLUTION: The digital broadcasting receiver 10 has a tuner 12, a demodulator 13, a display unit 15, a CPU 17, and a memory 16 storing a conversion formula for converting a BER value and the C/N value of a received signal from the tuner 12. The digital broadcasting receiver 10 selects a signal with a desired frequency from a digital broadcasting signal inputted from an antenna 11, and demodulates the received signal. It measures the BER value and the C/N value of the demodulated received signal, and displays the receiving level of the received signal by obtaining the conversion formula corresponding to the measured BER value or the C/N value from the memory 16, and by calculating the receiving level of the received signal. The digital broadcasting receiver 10 displays the receiving level by converting the BER value or the C/N value to the receiving level in a measurable range of the BER value, and by converting the C/N value to the receiving level in a range other than that.
