<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a consumable from being excessively consumed and to ensure the consumption if necessary by setting the maintenance of a printer individually corresponding to the printing environment. <P>SOLUTION: The setting can be changed by each mode of a printing medium and the previous operating time period can be recorded.
