<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a herbal extract having an antiviral activity. <P>SOLUTION: The herbal extract is produced by extracting finely crushed fruit of Ligustrum lucidum, Rhizoma polygonati, Herba agrimoniae, Radix Rehmanniae Glutinosae conquitae (a steam-treated Rhemannia) or a mixture of them with a low polarity solvent, and a method for antagonizing viruses by bringing these extracts in contact with the viruses in vitro is also disclosed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
