<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which does not need a large capacity storage device required for synchronizing the period of received digital image signal and the driving period of the display device or for converting the format of the received digital image signal to the format for displaying the same by means of a display device, reduces the amount of transmission of the digital image signal to the display device and realizes the miniaturization and low power consumption, and to provide a display control method. <P>SOLUTION: In the display device having a plurality of storage circuits in pixels, the digital image signal is written into the storage circuits in the pixels by using a decoder. Thus, even when the digital image signal is received at an arbitrary period, the received digital image data can be displayed without using the large capacity storage device. Further, an image processing register is disposed on the display device control circuit, and the pixel of the display device is divided into a plurality of pixel divisions.
