<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector which can optically connect optical fibers with high accuracy without bringing the ferrules attached to the respective ends of the optical fiber pair into contact with each other. <P>SOLUTION: The ferrules 21, 22 are attached to the ends of coated optical fibers 11, 12, respectively, and butted to each other in the sleeve 30 to optically connect the coated optical fibers 11, 12 in the optical connector 10. In this connector, a gap 25 is formed between the end faces of the ferrules 21, 22, and the gap 25 is controlled to≤300μm. The length D<SB>1</SB>of the sleeve 30 and the sum length D<SB>2</SB>of the ferrules 21, 22 inserted into the sleeve 30 satisfy 0<D<SB>1</SB>-D<SB>2</SB>≤300μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
