<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording medium which enables the realization of the advantages such as shortening of drying time, enhancement for smear tolerance and improvement for fading tolerance. <P>SOLUTION: The inkjet recording medium is provided with a sealable coating which enables the fading tolerance, drying time and water resistance to be improved by applying the medium to an impermeable substrate. The medium consists of (a) the impermeable substrate, (b) a porous base coat arranged on the impermeable substrate which is formed by comprising a pigment, binder and optional mordant and adapted so as to receive a coloring agent from ink and (c) a porous top coat. In that case, (1) the porous base coat further includes a polymer of solvent-swelling nature which has been made adapted so as to be swollen in contacting with a polar solvent of liquid vehicle, then the top coat is formed by comprising the optional one or the pigment and the binder, or (2) the porous top coat is formed by comprising the polymer of solvent-swelling nature and the binder.
