PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output a video image in which a desired region in the video image is improved. SOLUTION: This video processing apparatus comprises an image pickup circuit 7 for inputting a video image obtained by picking up an object; an input/output I/F 16 for outputting the inputted video image; a television set 3 for displaying the video image outputted from the input/output I/F 16; a memory circuit 15 for previously storing a plurality kinds of gamma correction curves each having a high resolution in a range of different input signal levels; a backlight correction input switch 17 for receiving an input for performing a backlight correction in the video displayed by the television set 3, depending on a state of the object portion to be watched carefully; an image pickup process circuit 14 for correcting the inputted video image by using any one of the plurality kinds of gamma curves; and a camera set control circuit 13 for controlling the circuit 14, so that any one is selected from among the plurality of gamma correction curves in conformity to an input by the backlight correction input switch.
