PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a recovery time from a standby state of a device while saving energy in relation to a belt-style heating device, and to reduce a fast copy time in a fixing device. SOLUTION: In this heating device, a heating nip N is formed by bringing an endless belt 5 extended among a plurality of support members 7, 6 and 9 into press contact with a heating rotative body 1 and a heating material P is heated by heat of the heating rotative body by introducing it into the heating nip to catch and carry it. The heating device is provided with a support member swinging means 11 allowing at least one support member 6, out of a plurality of the support members, without abutting on the heating rotative body through the endless belt in a heating material heating operation state of the device to contact to, separate from and swing with respect to the heating rotative body, and changing over the support member 6 to a first position separated from the rotative body 1 at a predetermined distance and to a second position in contact with the heating rotative body through the endless belt.
