PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, improved in productivity and furthermore little requiring inspection even in running through all night. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus includes an image forming apparatus body and a plurality of sheet loading devices connected on the downstream and loaded with sheets. The image forming apparatus includes: a first discharge passage for guiding a sheet to the outside of the sheet loading devices; a second discharge passage connected downstream for guiding the sheet to the sheet loading devices; a loading passage for guiding the sheet to a loading means; a switching means for switching a transport passage for a sheet to one of the sheet loading devices; a communicating means for giving and receiving the information on loading of a sheet between the image forming apparatus body and the sheet loading devices; and a control means for controlling the switching means according to the information of the communicating means.
