PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorbing member effectively absorbing impact energy by enhancing collapse average load at a collision and shortening a buckling pitch, and easy in molding and assembly with other members. SOLUTION: This shock absorbing member has a cross section constituted by an outer peripheral wall having a polygonal shape more than a quadrilateral shape formed by an outer peripheral wall corner part and an outer peripheral wall side part, and a center pillar dividing a hollow part surrounded by the outer peripheral wall.
