PLASMA DISPLAY DEVICE WITH IMPROVED LUMINANCE AND REDUCED POWER CONSUMPTION

PURPOSE: A plasma display device is provided to achieve improved luminance all over a screen while reducing a power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display device comprises a rear substrate; a plurality of address electrodes(20) disposed in parallel with each other on the rear substrate; a first dielectric layer covering the address electrodes; light emitting cells(50) defined by barrier ribs(40) formed on the first dielectric layer, wherein the light emitting cells have inner surfaces deposited with phosphors; a front substrate; a plurality of pairs of sustain electrodes arranged on the front substrate in orthogonal to the address electrodes; and a second dielectric layer covering the pairs of sustain electrodes. Scan electrodes of the sustain electrodes are arranged to cross discharge units(R1 to Rn) of the address electrodes. A succeeding discharge unit(Rs) among the discharge units of the address electrodes has an area larger than that of a preceding discharge unit(Rp).
