PURPOSE: A method for fabricating a phase retardation film and a method for manufacturing an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) using the method are provided to rub an alignment film in the first direction and irradiate UV rays on the alignment film using a mask such that an exposed portion of the alignment film aligned in the first direction is aligned in the second direction, to thereby reduce the number of processing steps and form a multi-domain. CONSTITUTION: An alignment film(402) is formed on a substrate(400) and rubbed to align the alignment film in the first direction. A mask is placed above the alignment film and light is irradiated on the alignment film to align exposed portions of the alignment film in the second direction. A phase retardation film(403) is formed on the alignment film aligned in the first and second directions.
