A padlock comprises a housing a shackle and a cylinder lock mechanism the lock mechanism including a cylinder 1 containing a plurality of locking discs, each with a notch in its rim and a locking bar 6 radially movable in a longitudinal slot 8 in the cylinder wall and cooperating with the rim notches in the locking discs, wherein the lock cylinder is attached to a centering plate 4 provided with a central cut-out 46 for the lock cylinder and two guiding holes 5 for the shackle the periphery of the cut out 4b being provided with a notch (not shown) for cooperation with the locking bar and the centering plate being fitted to the lock cylinder perpendicularly to the axis of said cylinder and its outside edge substantially fitting the inside surface of the padlock housing, the cylinder having a circumferential groove in which the centering plate is seated. The circumferential groove in all the constructions described is in an top end portion of the cylinder. In one construction a second centering plate is also used, the top end portion of the cylinder having the groove being enlarged and the second plate being adjacent the bottom end of the cylinder, the centering plates being carried in slots in a holder which fits inside the padlock housing. When only a single centering plate is used the bottom end portion of the lock cylinder is guided by a recess in the bottom plate of the padlock housing, the recess also having a notch for cooperation with the bottom end portion of the locking bar. In this construction the top end portion of the cylinder can be enlarged but need not be.</p> |
