PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera in which a work for selecting a file to be backed up is not required at the time of backing up by providing setting for backing up on a digital camera side. SOLUTION: To back up image data recorded in a recording medium of the digital camera into an external recording medium, the digital camera is provided with a remaining capacity setting means for setting a remaining capacity indicating the remaining recording capacity of the external recording medium for backup. If the remaining recording capacity of the recording medium is larger than a preset remaining capacity, a recording control means creates a new folder in the recording medium when the remaining recording capacity of the recording medium reaches the size of the remaining capacity, and records subsequent information in the new folder. When the subsequent image data are stored in the external recording medium, the image information thereof is provided with a new folder name and arrangement of the stored image information can be easily performed.
