PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming fine cavities on a filament suitable for mass production. SOLUTION: A fine cavity forming device forming fine cavities on the surface of a heated filament wire comprises a fine cavity forming means having an array of teeth for engaging with the surface of the filament wire along a longitudinal direction of the filament wire, and a draw-out means drawing out the filament wire along the longitudinal direction. Here, the draw-out means draws the filament wire along the longitudinal direction, and the array of the teeth engages with the surface of the filament wire and forms the fine cavities.
