PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a system for performing usual exchange processing (regular exchange processing) and inverse exchange processing, and to achieve a reduction in a cost and an improvement in a convenience for a user. SOLUTION: A coin change machine 1A, a bill change machine 1B and a control terminal machine T composing this system have control units C1, C2, C3, respectively. These units usually control a "change mode" for performing currency depositing of money deposited from a customer and money payment of change currency if necessary. However, if exchange is instructed from an exchange instruction means, these units control an "exchange mode" for performing either of (a) the regular exchange processing for discharging the exchange currency with lower stated value than the received currency in a combination to become an equivalent value to the received money if the received currency is a singular number or (b) the inverse exchange processing for discharging the exchange currency with higher stated value than the received money in a combination to become an equivalent value to the received currency (also a minimum configuration number of pieces) if the received currency is a plural number.
