The invention relates to an overload-protected lithium battery which comprises an electrical component (12) for discharging overload current, a charge eliminator (11) in the winding (13) of the battery (10), which short-circuits the winding (13); and a pressure release device that responds to a pressure generation. The charge eliminator (11) and the electrical component (12) are connected in series and the short-circuit in the winding (13) completely discharges the battery (10).
