PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a wall flow of fuel in the head rear of an intake valve and an intake port, in an engine performing fuel injection in an intake port. SOLUTION: In cold start of the engine, fuel injection timing is set to be in synchronization with an intake stroke to make injected fuel pass through the intake valve during opening of the intake valve. On the other hand, in a fuel injection period, a duty control is performed to change a fuel injection rate to adapt it to time changes in flow rate of intake fresh air passing through the intake valve 5.
