Method for creating additional cargo space on SWATH ship by utilising the space under the main hull between the upright supports

A method for creating additional cargo space on a SWATH ship uses the space under the main hull (12) and between the upright supports (6, 8) between the hull and the underwater buoyancy hulls (2, 4). The additional load space (30) is supported fore and aft on at least two of the cross braces (32) between the uprights. The support can be height adjustable, e.g. to transfer the cargo without requiring any deck hoists. The additional cargo can also be hoisted into a prepared recess under the main hull.
