Self-driving grass cutter is guided by sensors connected to a processor-controlled computer unit and grass detector. Sampling of the ground is undertaken using laser light which detects the surface structure and dependent on the detected structure controls the mowing and driving behavior of the cutter. Thus non-lawn surfaces are detected and avoided.
