Method of manufacturing an opening roller for an open-end-spinning device and opening roller produced by such a method

In a process to make a textile machine opening cylinder, the cylinder has a helical groove holding a matching length of serrated wire in an identical pattern. The wire is pre-shaped on a helical form prior to fitting. After installation, the wire and drum are hardened and surface-treated by sand blasting or glass beads. The wire is hardened either on the form or the drum. After fitting to the drum the wire ends are ground smooth. The hardening process is effected by an inductive current at a frequency of 1500 to 2000 kHz in the presence of inert gas. Also claimed is a commensurate textile machine opening cylinder.
