A light transmitting screen comprises a panel having a plurality of circular apertures <B>6</B>, each aperture <B>6</B> having a translucent sphere <B>3</B> mounted therein. Each translucent sphere <B>3</B> has shading surfaces <B>4, 5</B> of varying transparency positioned on two opposite quarters of its surface. The shading is such that the transparency of the surface of each sphere <B>3</B> increases in a direction away from an edge of the aperture in which it is mounted. The spheres <B>3</B> may be mounted such that they can be individually rotated or may be fixedly mounted. The diameter <B>D</B> of each sphere may be at least twice the thickness <B>b</B> of the panel. |
