The drive assembly in a four-wheel drive vehicle is designed with the differential of a second drive axle driven through the secondary shaft (29) and where necessary with the interposition of an intermediate axle differential. The secondary shaft is guided directly or indirectly through a transfer box phase in the switch gear (14) out from the latter and/or the differential (16). The drive assembly is mounted at the front and the differential is a front axle differential whilst the secondary shaft is guided backwards directly or indirectly to a rear axle differential.
