The method for operating an image sensor for an industrial truck or floor conveyer in which an image sensor attached to the truck or its load is used to capture surroundings data, with the data used with a computer unit for navigation purposes and or for recognizing and or measuring objects. The image sensor can be controlled and directed independently of the movement of the truck or its load. An independent claim is made for an image sensor for an autonomous industrial truck or floor conveyer.
