The universal container for liquid or solid medical preparations has a thin-wall container mantle (1), a shaped pouring opening (2) and a geometric inhomogenous base. The base has at least one rotational symmetrical recess or bulge, with a flat outer surface or with a slightly indented central recess. The container is of tubular or borosilicate glass, or an amorphous or partially crystalline plastics which can form a steam barrier which is better than 0.08 g/m<2>/*d where d is a wall thickness of 500 mu m.
