Process for processing slag and dust from special steel production comprises controlling the carbon dioxide partial pressure via a carbon-containing iron bath and maintaining below a temperature-dependent maximum value. The carbon dioxide partial pressure maximum value does not exceed 15 % of the total pressure at 1500[deg] C and 20 % of the total pressure at 1800[deg] C.
