Vehicle hire method for hiring vehicles via communications channels created between hirer, hire vehicles and central control system

Hire vehicle management method for use with a vehicle management system comprising data storage, communications and control devices with at least a part of the vehicle management system being onboard a vehicle and with at least a communications channel for data transfer between a vehicle and a central control system. When a communications channel is formed between a vehicle and the central control system, a further link is formed from the vehicle communications system to a user communications terminal. Independent claims are also included for the following:- (a) a central system forming part of a vehicle management system and; (b) a vehicle data processing system forming part of a hire vehicle management system with a communications channel to a central system.
