A container, e.g. backpack, suitcase, bag or other luggage item, has a rigid shell with one outer panel divided by a cross hinge (9). Pairs of waterproof sliding clasp fasteners (6, 7, 8, 6', 7', 8') are fitted along the sides with each pair providing separate access to each side of the hinge. Separate compartment of the container are accessed by each side of the hinge without having to fully open the container.
