Exhaust purification device of internal combustion engine

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine suppressing generation of white smoke.

SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control catalyst 25 is arranged in an engine exhaust gas passage. The device determines whether there is possibility of generating white smoke due to SOF adsorbed on the catalyst 25. If the device determines that there is possibility of generating white smoke, quantity of air discharged from the engine is increased to suppress generation of white smoke.
