A rotary cylindrical drum or rotor is mounted in a stand and knives are secured to the drum periphery or side of the rotor. The knives pass a blade which is positioned to provide a cutting angle between the knife rotation plane and the transport plane for the blade and feed conveyor. Increasing the cutting angle increases the length of the chips and reducing this angle will reduce the chip length. The cutting angle can be changed during chipping. |
