[Also in Division D2] A transfer medium has a substrate bearing a surface layer comprising 80 parts by wt. of a colouring matter, 2 to 10 parts by wt. of a wax and the remainder a silicone resin. The colouring matter may be carbon black. The wax may be ouricoury carnauba, candellila or sugar cane wax. The substrate may be a polyethylene film 0À0005-0À006 inch thick. The surface layer may be 0À00025-0À0050 inch thick. The transfer medium is normally non-tacky but it becomes tacky and sticks to the.receiving sheet when subjected to the pressure of a typewriter die. The receiving sheet used with the transfer medium may be transparent or translucent, non-porous and non-fibrous, e.g. it can be made of polyethylene glycol terephthalate, polyethylene, polyamide or a rubber hydrochloride.
