PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for displaying an image using a sub-LCD of a mobile terminal are provided to allow a user to use two LCDs discriminately for a control operation and a display. CONSTITUTION: A user opens a folder of a terminal(401) and then opens a sub-LCD by inputting an automatic sub-LCD open/close key provided in a key input unit(403). With the sub-LCD opened, data to be displayed on a main LCD and data to be displayed on the sub-LCD are determined(404). Still image data or video data is displayed on the main LCD(405) and a menu screen or various icons including operation buttons is displayed on the sub-LCD(406).
