PURPOSE: A hardness sensing method of a washing machine is provided to improve washing and rinsing performance by deciding exactly the amount of detergent according to the hardness of the water. CONSTITUTION: In a washing method of a washing machine for washing, rinsing, and dewatering the laundry according to a washing program set with regard to the laundry and detergent inserted into the washing machine and the hardness of the water and the amount of detergent after the water is inserted, a hardness sensing method is composed of steps for deciding whether a final rinsing step or not in a rinsing step(S13); supplying the water up to a set water level(S14); stirring the water for the predetermined time after completing the water supply(S15,S16); and computing the hardness of the water by detecting the temperature and conductivity of the stirred water(S18,S19,S20). |
