PURPOSE: An apparatus for preventing the paper jam in a printer is provided to prevent the paper jam by detecting a paper wrinkle at an early stage such that a user manages the paper jam. CONSTITUTION: A printer includes a pickup roller(1), a feeding roller(2), a transcriber(3), a fuse(4), an exhausting roller(5), a feeding tray(6), an exhausting tray(7), a driver, a paper wrinkle detecting sensor(12), and a controller(15). A paper(P) stacked in the feeding tray(6) is fed through a paper transferring path(R) by means of the pickup roller(1) and the exhausting roller(5). The paper wrinkle detecting sensor(12) is installed between the fuse(4) and the exhausting roller(5) in order to detect the paper wrinkle between the fuse(4) and the exhausting roller(5). A detecting region(12a) in which the paper wrinkle is detected, is formed by the paper wrinkle detecting sensor(12).
