PURPOSE: A shank forming jig of an insert for an indexable drill and a forming method thereby are provided to process the shank of the insert accurately with the grinding wheel of the cylindrical grinding machine by integrating the processing center of the cylindrical grinding machine, the processing center of the jig body and the center of the shank with the centering holder in mounting the head of the insert in the cut portion of the jig body. CONSTITUTION: A shank forming jig is composed of a jig body(10) having a cut portion(11) in the end, a tightening ring(20) inserted to an installation part(12) of the jig body, and a centering holder(30) centering an insert(40) with the tightening ring. A shank(41) of the insert is fitted to a central hole(31) of the centering holder in placing a head part(43) of the insert in a stepped part(33) of the centering holder, and the second vertical part of the stepped part of the centering holder is integrated with a small side(43a) of the head part of the insert to arrange the center of the insert and the center of the centering holder coaxially. The head part of the insert is fitted to the cut portion of the jig body, and the center of the insert is integrated with the center of the jig body by tightening the cut portion of the jig body with a bolt(21) of the tightening ring. |
