COMPUTER SYSTEM AND COOLING FAN CONTROLLING METHOD THEREOF USING STANDARD API COMMAND

PURPOSE: A computer system and a cooling fan controlling method thereof using a standard API(Application Programming Interface) command are provided to reduce unnecessary power consumption and excessive noise by lowering a fan speed of the cooling fan during 2D(Dimensional) operations generating relatively low heat. CONSTITUTION: A graphic driver(3) counts a 2D-related API command continuing time among the API commands used by an application program(1), compares it with a preset fan speed adjusting time, and generates a fan speed adjusting signal depending on a comparison result. A fan speed adjuster(7) adjusts the fan speed of the cooling fan(9) based on the fan speed adjusting signal by reading a value stored in a fan speed adjusting signal storage register(11). A GPIO(General Purpose Input/Output) port(5) receives the fan speed adjusting signal.
