A CENTRIFUGAL BRAKING DEVICE SWITCHABLE BETWEEN INOPERATIVE AND OPERATIVE STATES ENABLING THE SWITCHING OPERATION TO BE CARRIED OUT WITH LIGHT FORCE. THE CENTRIFUGAL BRAKING MECHANICM IN A DUAL-BEARING REEL UNIT IS FOR BRAKING THE SPOOL (12) UNDER CENTRIFUGAL FORCE, AND INCLUDES A PLURALITY OF GUIDE SHAFTS (173), A PLURALITY OF SHIFTERS (167), A CYLINDRICAL BRAKE ELEMENT(168), AND A SWITCHING MECHANISM (169). THE GUIDE SHAFTS (173)ARE RADIALLY DISPOSED ON A ROTOR (166) COUPLED TO THE SPOOL(12) FOR ROTATION TOGETHER THEREWITH. THE SHIFTERS (167) ARE AXIALLY MOVABLY FITTED TO THE GUIDE SHAFTS(173), ABOUT WHICH THEY ARE PIVOTABLE, AND THEREIN ALLOWED TRAVEL DIAMETRICALLY WITH RESPECT TO THE SPOOL (12). THE BRAKE ELEMENT (68) IS DISPOSED TO THE OUTER PERIPHERAL SIDE OF THE PLURALITY OF SHIFTERS(167), AND MADE NON-ROTATABLE WITH RESPECT TO THE REEL UNIT. THE SHIFTERS (167) TRAVEL DIAMETRICALLY UNDER CENTRIFUGAL FORCE TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE BRAKE ELEMENT(68). BY CHANGING THE PIVOTAL POSITION OF THE SHIFTERS (167) ABOUT THE SHAFT, THE SWITCHING MECHANISM(169) SWITCHES THE SHIFTERS BETWEEN AN INOPERATIVE STATE, PREVENTING THEM FROM COMING INTO CONTACT WITH THE BRAKE ELEMENT (68), AND AN OPERATIVE STATE ENABLING BRAKE ELEMENT CONTACT.FIGURE 8
