A method of making trisodium pentacyanoamminoferrate (II) is disclosed comprising the steps of: (a) concurrently adding an aqueous solution of ferrous chloride tetrahydrate, stabilized with hypophosphorous acid and sodium cyanide in the ratio of 1 to 5 equivalents to an aqueous solution of ammonium hydroxide to form a reaction mixture; and (b) isolating said trisodium pentacyanoamminoferrate (II) from said reaction mixture.
