<p>PURPOSE: Provided is a thermally-expandable graphite intercalation compound capable of producing an expandable fire-protection sealing which improves sealability of openings at lower temperatures and under unfavorable heat transfer conditions in the event of a fire, so that larger openings and pipes for thick walls can be sealed off. CONSTITUTION: The thermally-expandable graphite intercalation compound is used as an expandable fire-protection additive in polymer matrix for producing an expandable fire-protective sealing for perforations, bushings and other openings in walls, floors and/or ceilings of buildings. The thermally-expandable graphite intercalation compound comprises (A) at least one metal halide of at least one elements selected from Fe, Al, Sb, Zn, Y, Cr and Ni and (B) at least one nitroalkane of the formula CH3(CH2)nNO2(in which, n is an integer of 0-10), as well as structural isomers or mixtures thereof. The graphite intercalation compound may comprise (C) at least one representative material selected from the functional group of acids including H2SO4, CH3COOH and HNO3, as an additional intercalate compound.</p> |
