PURPOSE: A method for reinforcing a connection portion of a flat cable member and a method for manufacturing an image display unit are provided to easily manufacture a flat cable member having a connection portion which is not affected by an external force. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a first step of supplying a fluid(12); and a second step of forming a reinforcing member by hardening the fluid. The first step includes a sub step of permitting a substrate where a flat cable member is connected, to get close to a jig, and supplying the fluid to a region where the reinforcing member is formed while suppressing the outflow of the fluid by the jig.
