PURPOSE: A back fire prevention method by engine reverse rotation is provided to prohibit injection and ignition while an engine reversely rotates when abnormal stall of the engine occurs. CONSTITUTION: A back fire prevention method by engine reverse rotation comprises steps of previously setting up first and second set values for determining stall when an ignition key switch signal is in an active state(S100); determining whether an ignition key switch is activated(S110); determining whether the gradient of rpm(revolutions per minute) decrease of an engine is reduced more rapidly than the gradient of coolant temperature(S120); determining whether the engine rpm reaches the second set value for determining stall(S130); and immediately stopping injection and ignition actions(S140).
