PURPOSE: A route guidance device and a method of telematics system are provided to decrease the amount of transceived data and the load of a server by downloading the information changed according to the condition of traffic from a server. CONSTITUTION: A communication unit(410) transceives data with a device(200) mounted in a vehicle. A traffic information collection unit(420) collects traffic information in real time. A route search unit(430) determines whether the path of the request section of the corresponding route guidance is provided to the mounted device(200) in the vehicle according to a route guidance request of the mounted device(200) in the vehicle. The route detection unit(430) judges whether the corresponding path is changed by using traffic information of the traffic information collection unit(420) if the path of the request section of the corresponding route guidance was provided in advance. A path storing unit(440) stores path information transmitted to the mounted device(200).
