PURPOSE: A method of making rice containing herbal components of chilmulkanghatang which is described in the book of Eastern Medicare by soaking rice in an extract of Glycyrrhizae Radix, Paeoniae Radix, Cnidii Rhizoma and Radix Rehmannia, Astragali Radix, Phellodendri Cortex and Uncariae Ramulu and then drying is provided. The product is effective in treating hypertension and complications associated with hypertension. CONSTITUTION: Rice is washed with water 3 to 4 times and soaked in a herbal extract containing 80g of each of Glycyrrhizae Radix, Paeoniae Radix, Cnidii Rhizoma and Radix Rehmannia, 40g of Astragali Radix, 40g of Phellodendri Cortex and 60g of Uncariae Ramulus while turning upside down every 2hr and then dried for a predetermined period of time. For an example, 60g of Astragali Radix, 60g of Ginseng Radix, 60g of Glycyrrhizae Radix, 150g of Angelicae Gigantis Radix and 150g of Schizandrae Fructus are mixed with 5L of water and extracted at 100deg.C for 3hr. Then, 800g of rice is mixed with 320g of the herbal extract while turning upside down every 2hr and dried with hot air at 60deg.C. The treated rice is mixed with 400g of the herbal extract and then dried.
