PURPOSE: A method for converting a character input mode is provided to enable a user to conveniently input a message by converting the character input mode according to a set sequence when a user pushes a key button during a designated time or more. CONSTITUTION: A user pushes a key button during a designated time in a time when the user wants to convert a character input mode(810). A current character input mode is converted into a character input mode which is set up after the current character input mode(820). If the key button is pushed during the designated time or more, information about the changed character input mode is outputted(830). If the push of the key button is released when character input mode information is outputted, the previous character input mode is converted into the outputted character input mode(840).
