PURPOSE: A low-voltage discharge lamp is provided to increase the life span of the lamp by making the surface temperature of an external electrode uniform and avoiding bad influence of a local temperature increase. CONSTITUTION: A low-voltage discharge lamp(11) includes a glass lamp tube(10) and an external electrode(21). The glass lamp tube is filled with a discharge medium. Both ends of the glass lamp tube are sealed. The external electrode is located on the outer surface of the glass lamp tube and provided with high-frequency voltage. The external electrode includes a conductive layer(31) and a heat distributing member(41). The conductive layer is formed on the outer surface of the glass lamp tube. The heat distributing member is formed on the conductive layer and makes the surface temperature of the external electrode uniform.
