PURPOSE: A locking device of a tail gate for a truck is provided to improve convenience and to simplify the operation for fixing the tail gate to a side gate by rotating a knob unit of a lock handle about a hinge shaft and locking and fixing one hook unit to the other hook unit. CONSTITUTION: A truck comprises a deck forming a bottom side, side gates(1) set up vertically at both sides of the deck, and a tail gate(2) installed in a rear side of two side gates. A locking device for the tail gate is composed of a side lock bracket(51) fixed at a rear lateral side of the side gate and formed with a hanging unit(51a) in the rear side; a lock handle(53) combined to a tail lock bracket(52) having a protruded hinge shaft by a hinge cap(52b) on both rear sides of the tail gate and composed of a knob(53a) formed at the lower side and a hook unit(53b) formed at the lateral side and inserted into the hanging unit; and a lock stopper installed in the tail gate to prevent the lock handle from separating from the hanging unit if force is not applied from the outside by pushing outward the lock handle with elastic force of a lock spring formed at the outer peripheral surface.
