The production of fringes for tassels is effected using a braiding or crocheting mchine provided with at least two sorts of weft yarn, crossing each other in two planes. The tassel fringes are formed from a head-band where the weft yarns are bound by several strong yarns by means of a finge binder. Tassel weft yarns are provided in the form of close loops and are hooked to the marginal loops. The base parts of the loops are held by rows of stitches in the joining zone of the base, in the same way as the head part of the loop. In these rows of stitches, the tassel weft yarns are bound in varying directions. A further row of stitches comprises an elastic yarn formed neat to the place where the loops are hooked oon to the weft support yarns. A single stitch of this row of stitches surrounds the base parts as well as the two sections of the head part of the loop. The machine produces tassels which are similar in quality to those made by hand. The weft yarns are fed evenly, without different sizes in the loops, and the tassels are well-shaped. a pattern may be effected on the tassels.
|
